Firm History and Profile

Our firm has practiced public accounting since 1954.  During the entire period of the firm's existence, our philosophy and goal has been that our clients deserve candid service, with concern for their best interests consistent with our responsibilities to the profession and to the public.  We strive to administer our affairs at the highest level of professional conduct promulgated by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society to which our partners and professional staff belong.

The firm provides professional services in the fields of accounting, auditing, taxation, management advisory services, estates, trusts, and financial planning.  Our partners and staff work together as a team to provide the best service to the firm's clients.  We undertake engagements only when we are capable of providing quality service.  It is our intention to continue to expand our expertise and services, within the capabilities and resources available to us, to meet the ever-growing needs of our clients.  See the partner profile page to view specialty areas each partner has developed over their career.

In November 2001, Machen, McChesney & Chastain became an independent member of the BDO Seidman Alliance.  This Alliance is a nationwide association of independently owned local and regional accounting firms that share a dedication to exemplary client service.  As a member of this alliance, the firm has expanded capabilities and is qualified to provide all of the services offered by any major international accounting firm.  The firm is aware that to realize its philosophy of quality professional service, integrity and ethical practice, it must hire, cultivate and retain capable and dedicated staff and partners.  It is our intention to recruit individuals whose academic achievements meet our standards and who, by their appearance and their expressed willingness to work toward developing technical excellence, hold promise of upholding the firm's image and providing the quality of service our clients require and deserve.  Individuals in the firm are expected to actively participate in professional organizations and community affairs.
